LIFE ReLiGHT seeks a solution for electric vehicle battery storage

6 Spanish companies and the Business Association of Batteries, Cells and Energy Storage (AEPIBAL) start the LIFE ReLiGHT project that will last for 7 years.

On October 26th, the Kick-Off Meeting of the LIFE ReLiGHT project was held at the offices of Capital Energy, coordinator of the European project, in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid.

LIFE ReLiGHT is a seven-year project funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme, which supports environmental conservation, circular economy, climate action and energy transition projects in Europe. The project has an estimated cost of 7.8 million euros, with 60% public funding.

The main objective of the project is to increase resource efficiency by demonstrating the high capacity of a storage solution with batteries from electric cars after the end of their first life, whose current destination would be waste.

The consortium is formed by 6 Spanish companies. Capital Energy, which acts as project coordinator, is joined in the consortium by CEN Solutions, BeePlanet Factory, Hybrid Energy Storage Solutions S.L. (HESSTEC), Envirobat España and the Asociación Empresarial de Pilas, Baterías y Almacenamiento Energético (AEPIBAL).
